Mesa Staircase Remodel: From Builder-Grade Carpet to Custom Hardwood Treads

The original staircase was wrapped in builder-grade carpet that had worn down along the curve, and the second floor still had the same carpet throughout. The homeowners wanted a clean, timeless look that would hold up for years.

Curved staircases don't accept off-the-shelf treads. Each tread is measured, cut and fitted individually, and the risers and stringers have to be prepped so the finished stair is quiet, level and safe. It's the kind of detail work our crew does on every reconstruction — here it simply happened to be the centerpiece of the home.
